Men robbed and molested PRC woman
Shin Min Daily News
An ex-convict went on to molest and assault a woman just four months after he was released from prison.
On 19 November last year, Mohamad Fazel, 31, working as a delivery driver, had driven to Geylang at 3.40am in the morning to look for a target. He eventually picked masseuse Chen Jin Bo, 39, a Chinese national woman.
Chen had quoted $100 for a massage and had unsuspectingly boarded Mohamad Fazel's vehicle to go with him to a hotel at Geylang Lorong 16.
However, the Mohamad Fazel drove the woman to a deserted road at Woodlands instead.
Realising something was wrong, Chen attempted to escape from the van but was ambushed by Mohamad Fazel's accomplice, Abusali, 32, hiding at the back of the van.
Abusali grabbed Chen by her neck and hair, and held her down in the van.
The two men punched and kicked the woman to subdue her, then tied her down with cables. They then groped and kissed the woman, including on her breasts and private parts.
Six hours later at 12 noon, the two men dumped the woman at the East Coast Park area and made off with her handbag, mobile phone, and valuables worth $320.
Mohamad Fazel was eventually arrested about eight months later when his car happened to be checked by two policemen when he was parked at the side of a road. He immediately attempted to escape but ended up ramming his vehicle into a police car.
He was subdued by a number of policemen but not before putting up a violent struggle where he punched one of the officers.
Mohamad Fazel was charged in court today and has been sentenced to 7 years of rehabilitative imprisonment and 15 strokes of the cane. His accomplice Abusali had already been sentenced to 3 and half years in jail this March, and 12 strokes of the cane.
