Woman offers $1,000 bribe to get colleague sacked

SINGAPORE - A Chinese national who offered her superior $1,000 to sack her colleague was fined $2,500 by the court on Thursday.
Tan Yanli, 35, a former guest service agent, admitted to offering the bribe to Ms Tan Sok Lan, a manager at Marina Bay Sands, in return for recommending the dismissal and repatriation of Ms Sun Chuanling, reported the Straits Times.
Ms Sun was Tan's room-mate but their relationship deteriorated after a series of disputes.
Tan sent her supervisor a message on Aug 16, offering $500, followed by another $500, if Ms Sun was successfully repatriated.
The message was forwarded to the management by the supervisor, and a police report was made.
Tan will serve two weeks in jail in lieu of her sentence as she is unabled to pay the fine.
The maximum penalty is a $100,000 fine and five years' jail.
