  1. Re: Drunk passenger causes Ryanair flight to be diverted

Usually the diversion costs have to be borne by the unruly passenger who may also have lawsuits against him from other passengers.
  2. Re: Fighter jets escort two passenger planes after bomb threat

One of the reasons is that the fighters escort them to fly an air corridor that minimises overflight over populated areas.

Re: AirAsia jet climbed fast then stalled

Commercial jets are not likely to have vertical speeds that are faster than Cumulonimbus buildups and updrafts. His reported climb rate of 6000 feet per minute cannot outclimb most of these storm...
  4. Re: guess the race: man complains endlessly to sia even though its his fault

The way they look and the shape they are in, if some of them wear briefs the airlines would lose their passengers.
  5. Re: guess the race: man complains endlessly to sia even though its his fault

You are in error on this as there is no such discrimination. All the major airlines have agreed on and implemented this and the ground staff have their briefs, guidelines and orders to follow these...
  6. Re: guess the race: man complains endlessly to sia even though its his fault

Not necessarily so. There is usually no service recovery steps taken if it is the passenger's fault. In fact he would usually have to pay extra for admin charges.
  7. Re: guess the race: man complains endlessly to sia even though its his fault

For almost every major airline his arrival at the gate would be way too late. If by about 10 minutes to departure time and the passenger is not at the gate and cannot be located then the procedures...
  8. Re: It's really a bad idea to climb over the thunderstorm...AirAsia QZ8501

If the storm cells are too big and widespread as in big line squalls then the issue has to be resolved on the ground prior to departure. The pilot would have to plan an alternate route around the...
  9. Re: It's really a bad idea to climb over the thunderstorm...AirAsia QZ8501

Correct...chances are you can never outclimb thunderstorm clouds, even one that is forming. The energy level of active cumulonimbus cloud in the forming, mature and dissipating stage can rip an...

Re: Thinking of buying one of these

Gone solo already? Be careful of line squalls around Indonesia if you plan on flying around those parts eventually.
  12. Re: Air Asia flight bound for Singapore lost contact with air traffic

Again no reported distress call from the aircraft.
  13. Re: IS captures Jordanian pilot after warplane crashes in Syria

The additional hazards of being a fighter pilot especially during wartime situations ....I hope for his very best.

Re: Thinking of buying one of these

I don't think single engine aircraft are allowed to fly over large expases of water . Even multi engined aircraft have to be certified for Extended Diversion Time Operations . So look into this...

Re: Thinking of buying one of these

If you have the moolah the the PC looks superior in all the performance aspects especially the ceiling . This is useful to avoid weather buildups vertically as well as saving on fuel.
  18. Re: Japs still trying to kill sinkies 69 years after WW2

The worst kind of ice because it is very difficult to detect. This type of ice has caused many plane skidding incidents on the ramps, taxiways and even on runways .
  19. Re: SQ Sinkie pilot writes yet another letter to PM Lee

You are just a vindictive person posting and hitting blindly. I'd like to ask how this thread can be viewed as anti anyone or anything? It is just trying to be pro Singaporean.
  20. Re: SQ Sinkie pilot writes yet another letter to PM Lee

Isn't this an old letter? Just look at the date that he joined ( 2009 ) and the fact that he is at this point a 7 year Senior First Officer and you can see that the timelines don't gel for this...
  21. Re: MRT Breakdown at Changi airport. Welcome to S'pore!

Unfortunately so for the consumer who always loses out.
  22. Re: MRT Breakdown at Changi airport. Welcome to S'pore!

In this case it is not a he or she as this kind of operation is invariably run by some big group or agency eg CIAS who may then contract out the maintenance.
  23. Re: MRT Breakdown at Changi airport. Welcome to S'pore!

If flights are missed because of an event like this then the operator of the trains can be taken to task and be made to compensate those affected.
  24. Re: Air China flight makes emergency landing in London after landing gear failure

When the gears.....any gears don't retract it's a non normal situation. The flight should not continue unless there is no choice eg departure airport suddenly closed. A safe landing can be made...

Bloody hell....how did Saints lose to ACS? And by that kind of margin.
