BEIJING - CHINA'S central bank says the country's foreign exchange reserves reached US$1.905 trillion (S$2.77 trillion) at the end of September.
Reserves grew by US$21.5 billion last month, the bank said on Tuesday, amid China's growing global trade surplus.
Reserves grew by US$377 billion over the first three quarters of the year, US$10 billion more than in the first nine months of last year, the central bank announced.
Chinese customs on Monday said the trade surplus totaled US$180.9 billion in the year through September, narrowing 2.6 per cent from the same period a year earlier.
Economists have warned export growth could slow radically however as demand slips in the key European and U.S. markets as a result of the global credit crisis. -- AP
