SINGAPORE: The Housing and Development Board (HDB) of Singapore has launched the sale of 992 flats under its Balloting Exercise on Friday.

They include surplus flats available from the Selective En Bloc Redevelopment Scheme (SERS) in Ang Mo Kio, Kallang, Whampoa, Queenstown and Jurong West, as well as remaining units at The Pinnacle@Duxton.

HDB said on Friday the units offered are of different types and designs that will suit varying needs and budget of home buyers.

Prices of three and four-room flats in Jurong West are expected to cost between S$142,000 and S$253,000.

While the 428 units at Singapore's first iconic 50-storey public housing project, The Pinnacle@Duxton are priced between S$457,000 and S$646,000.

The Board said that buyers who do not find a flat of their choice in this balloting exercise can consider applying for a new flat under the Build-To-Order exercises in the future.

Interested buyers can view models of the projects at the Habitat Forum at the HDB Hub or visit unfurnished sample units on site.

Applications for the new flats can be submitted online at www.hdb.gov.sg from September 26 to October 9.

Singapore will have more golden period if Lee Kuan yew still around, but even if he is gone, his son will create Diamond period for singapore.

HDb houses considered very cheap, got warranty and upgrading if you vote fro PAP, and upgrading is also free, got rebates for conservancy fees, where can you find this kind of Govt in the world.

To pay such an ridiculous price at such levels, and when much of the world property market are at their weakest, is just folly.

I mean why pay so much when you can just wait out a few more months and buy a foreclosed- and freehold- home for say $50k at most in the US, and rent it out?

Once the markets bottomed out, I'm sure there will be jobs there. I guess if anyone's gonna be trained as an engineer/scientist/specialist for green tech, or for the tech sector in general, or for biotech, they will be in luck, because R&D will still be going on regardless of the economical situation.

And besides if Obama wins, the green tech companies will start to flourish, especially once the tax subsidies are passed to help these companies hire more people, and put more money into R&D.

Those electrical items used are the cheapest you can find in the market and they are selling the units at such high price.
