Singapore Customs detains over 2,300 counterfeit goods at Kaki Bukit

Singapore Customs said in a statement on Tuesday that it detained more than 2,300 trademark-infringing goods on April 8.

The counterfeit goods, imported from China via several air shipments, were uncovered during an inspection at the importer's warehouse at Kaki Bukit Avenue.

An assortment of counterfeit mobile phone accessories, watches, sunglasses, bags, wallets of popular brands were found.

Singapore Customs added that the brand owners were notified of the trademark infringement and several of them are taking legal action against the importer of the counterfeit goods.

Mr Yeo Sew Meng, Assistant Director-General (Intelligence and Investigation) of Singapore Customs said: "Singapore does not condone such illegal trading activities."

He added: "Singapore Customs will take firm action against importers who bring in counterfeit goods. We will uphold our commitment to ensure a robust intellectual property rights enforcement regime in Singapore."
