Going back to an old employer..

I'm having a job interview with my old employer that I left 13 months ago. The last time round I left after just working there for about 5 months for a similar role but (slightly) better pay, now I'm going back interview for a management position.

One of the qn that they confirm gng to ask me is why I left previously. Honestly, i couldn't work with my boss then who was a bitch but i can't say that in the interview! (she's still around but I'll be joining another department)

Any ideas?? Greatly appreciated!

unless you are steve jobs, they only call you up for interview to laugh at you, do not fall in trap.

The organisation is very big, its a different dept, its for a managerial position, and for better pay package.

all the above are the reasons for me wanting to return. I dont think they so free call me up for interview for nothing. The interviewer is from an entirely different dept anyway

Tell them that you want to upgrade or upskill yourself or it was an opportunity to learn new things so you moved. You would like to return as it is now a management position and you know the company well having worked there before and you enjoyed your previous stint with the company and you know that you can contribute.

Not saying that you should burn your bridges, but if you're not comfortable or satisfied with the people whom you had worked with or the working environment, it's probably time to move on. You think about it.

How did the former company seek you out?

My ex-colleague who is still working there informed me about the opening, i applied directly via the company's website.

Wasn't sure if i would even get an interview given the circumstances but they actually called back today (i applied monday) which was rather quick and unexpected thus totally unprepared.

Not saying that you should burn your bridges, but if you're not comfortable or satisfied with the people whom you had worked with or the working environment, it's probably time to move on. You think about it.

I was unhappy with my direct manager at that time, couldnt see eye to eye on loads of issues. working environment was ok, but main draw now is that its a management position, more or less similar in rank with my previous direct manager so even if i do cross path with her there, it would give me satisfaction.. :P
