which next pc should i buy? recommendations pls.

the dying one is using now is HP PRESARIO. it's suffering from hanging spell. screen freezes. gotta off main power, then on and restart. after a while, freezes again.

someday it's doing fine while most days it just suffers fr the fainting spell.

a check with gohmengseng ended up nought :( so i think i better get betterer advices here though i already anticipated the kinda of answers i would be getting:rolleyes:

Buy something with 2nd generation Sandy Bridge processor with the processor name i3, i5 or i7 followed by a 4-digit no. starting with 2. This chip allows the use of UEFI, a new technology, instead of BIOS for booting. The boot is very fast, like 2 secs before windows start-up kicks in. There are some all-in-ones that do away with the PC chassis. Very neat. If you are into movie viewing or gaming, you may wish to consider a screen with 3D and of blue-tooth. For gaming, usually the graphics is an upgraded version. But all these are add-ons bringing the total cost to $3000 and above. The extreme gamer might need a water-cooled machine which will cost even more.

You have to determine your budget 1st & then work around that budget.

Have to ask yourself if you will be re-using the older HDD, RAM, OS, DVD, case,... HDDs are cureently expensive because of the floods in Thailand. So if you can delay the purchase until prices are back to normal.

my pc finally dies again!

as recommended by my li'l brother leetahsar who brought me to PERDURE at redhill mrt to repair. after that we went for dimsum at zi yean which was nearby. was told that it needed about 2 hrs to fix.

after makan, LTS went buy 4D. this was very weird cos he striked!! it was a gift from the late teresa hsu. her age of passing was 113, died on 7 dec. however, according to some taiwanese report, teresa hsu passing age was reported as 115. LTS bought 7511. by right, the actual number he should wager on was 115(age) 7(date). but becos TH was a remarkable bodhisattva who didn't want a funeral wake or even to claim her ashes, LTS reversed the digits to 7511. the next day it opened as starter!

the cost of my pc was even more pleasant surprise. it only cost me $10. was told that it was dust that adversely affected the pc's performance. after giving a good internal vacuum, everything should be working fine. wow!

u bet dimsum was on LTS when he went to collect his 4D winnings
