I'm not saying they won't be very popular. All I'm saying is that they're a big waste. I have idiots all around me with iPhones and iPads who have wasted time and money with stupid applications which they fiddle with for a few days and never use again.
When cameras started appearing on phones, I told everyone not to waste their money but nobody listened. As expected, all those with camphones soon realised that even the 8 megapixel cameras were nothing but gimmicks. The images were so noisy they weren't worth the disk space they occupied let alone the cost of printing any of them out.
I've never been an advocate of this swiss army knife approach to technology. Stick to buying technology that is designed for a specific purpose.
Need a computer?... get a tower model and a 28" (or larger) screen to go with it. You'll become really productive and you'll be able to make tons of money while sitting in front of your computer providing value added services to clients around the world.
If you like taking pictures, buy a proper camera eg a Canon or Nikon DSLR. Get the most expensive model you can afford. You won't regret it.
If you're a movie maker, the minimum you should invest in is a Canon XA10 or something with equivalent specifications.
Life is not about owning fancy gadgets. It's about buying the best that's available for the technology that you're passionate about and mastering every aspect of the creative endeavor that the technology serves. Top photographers like Amanda Friedman still shoot with FILM for many of their assignments simply because digital images can never duplicate what film does when capturing a scene.
