If CST join RP, and his wife lose PP.
Most likely the legacy of CST shall end.
With his failing health, he shall no longer and be retired.

Actually it is time for him to retire.

His kind of politics isnt making sinkieland a better place. At first he was found wanting in SDP, forced to resign as the CEC could not get along with his high-handleness.

Now the SDA committee disapproved of his sacking of sec-gen Desmond Lim. Another blow to his prestige. His dictatorial ways again is the problem.

Unlike the great JBJ, this man hasnt the courage to stand in a GRC until he is on one leg. Spore can do away with such a boh lumpar man. No different from the PAP MPs!

"Whether you like it or not, we will need more Malays or Indian candidates in order to field more Chinese candidates. Without them you cannot contest more GRCs."
- Goh Meng Seng, Sec-Gen, National Solidarity Party; TOC; 27 Oct 2010.

our captain really said this? it sound so racist....our captain really needs to be more tactful with his words

You can read it here:

http://theonlinecitizen.com/2010/10/unapologetically-socialist-goh-meng-seng-part-two/

GMS has a history of chauvinistic slurs against the minority communities going back all the way to s.c.s where he went by the moniker MADCOW. The Malay and Indian community is wary of these so-called alternative parties. These parties will only realize the extent of the damage they have done post elections.

He's not racist. It's a fact of law. However, agree that he should be more tactful. Say something like, they welcome candidates from all races to step forward and would field as many as possible accordingly.

The "like it or not" has a negative connotation of "don't like it" but needs them anyway. If perceived to be so, it becomes a user and hostage situation. The majority Chinese candidates using the minority candidates to qualify for GRCs and the minority candidates holding them hostage.

Truth be known, images of CST now a days aren't really that flattering. To a voter, they would seriously question his ability to actually lead actively.

No worries. When CST is about to be lowered to his grave, he will wake up to right the wrong.

Actually CST has learnt a lot from LKY.

Its a pity LKY takes care of his own health better and has state resources at his disposal.

CST on the other hand continues to fight a one-man battle, as he always has done. Hope his wife can take over his mantle soon. I'm sure she has learnt a lot from behind the scenes too. Now lets see whether she can deliver the goods.

Vote for PAP, and then you won't have all these kinds of nonsense from opposition parties. They are making a fool of themselves.

After that spat with Desmond, Lina will lose hands down to Sitoh if there is a one-on-one. So will Desmond, for that matter. Very likely Chiam despite all his rhetoric, will stand again in PP. Watch this space.

The end of CST in politics is not near. It's well past that "near" stage. It's there and finished, whatever course CST takes next. That's objectively speaking from the situation. Personal opinion-wise, I was one of his supporters during his younger days but I wouldn't apply double standards. I'm against LKY staying on too long. I'm against CST doing that too.

It will be a major loss of face for Chiam to go crawling back to PP, but you could be right.

That's why he needs to team up with KJ/RP urgently. That is his only hope of snagging a GRC. At this point, Desmond can be made totally irrelevant if Chiam decides.

It is a matter of face and legacy. Doesn't matter if Chiam is way past his expiry rate.

I believe LKY's first and only disciple is Chiam. Even his own son cannot be considered a disciple in the true sense of the word.

It's not only a matter of snagging a GRC. That's not possible. They'll lose whatever the team and wherever they contest. But losing in a GRC and bowing out is certainly much more face-saving that losing in PP.

Not really, he can play the sympathy card. I think he is shrewd enough to make his personal liability into a political asset.

Chiam will never lose in PP during his lifetime. Sitoh knew that since 2001. But Lina or Desmond will be dead meat against him. So Chiam is begging for an excuse to remain in PP.
