Besides working in PR for pharma did you work previously with advertising firms? Like Saatchi and Saatchi or Batey?

I have friends and relatives who work in this field as well although no one in the pharma side of things.

Funny thing is they all say that all this advertising stuff and money blown on PR campaigns.....they themselves say they would tend to stay away from those products heavily marketed etc.

Like beer....interesting that lower ETOH content light beer heavily marketed is sold for more expensive than higher ETOH content beer which is actually a better product. All from advertising and marketing and PR.

So actually many things the PR people very powerful and control social thinking in many ways.
Creativity is key to managing a world class PR firm.

All names, publicity directions, target markets... are determined by their head office and filtered down to us via its local office. Your'e right about the stringent regulations and I can tell you Sinkeepoo's HSA is one tough department to crack.

If not for covid this mRNA tech based treatments would still be sitting on applications to approve trials after trials.

The problem with pharma now is actually all these ethical and research restrictions and standards that they need to meet. Chicken or egg. If it is so safe and you know how do you know? And if you know then why need trial anymore? And if you say you need trial to know then they say you don't know enough for it to "be safe enough" to go to trial.

Sigh.

Most of our advances in medical tech happened after WWII. No prizes for guessing why.

LOL!

Unfortunately the term creativity is not something that is in doctor handbooks or guidelines from Medical Colleges.

I have yet to hear anybody tell doctors to be creative in the way they manage a disease or illness or patient. LOL! :roflmao:

mRNA vaccine technology might come in very useful for non infectious diseases.

Eg in inducing the body to produce antibodies that target certain receptors on tumor cells to treat cancer for instance. It would be strange though to tell a patient that we will be treating you with a vaccine.

I guess it is about marketing lah.

SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Thursday (7 October) confirmed 3,483 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore, bringing the country's total case count to 116,864, as well as three more deaths due to the disease.
Thursday marks the third day in a row Singapore reported over 3,000 new daily cases. It is also the 16th day in a row with fatalities from the virus reported.
Singapore's 134th through 136th COVID-19 fatalities are all Singaporean: two men and one woman aged between 57 and 90. A total of 35 people here have succumbed to the disease this month.
One had been unvaccinated against COVID-19 and two had been vaccinated. All of them had various underlying medical conditions.
Of the new cases, 3,475 are local infections: 2,783 are in the community, while 692 are dormitory residents. Among the local cases are 607 people above the age of 60, said the MOH.
The remaining eight cases are imported, of whom one was detected upon their arrival in Singapore, while seven developed the illness during their stay-home notice or isolation period.
Five active COVID-19 clusters in Singapore, including three dorms, are being closely monitored. All three dorm clusters have been classified as intra-dormitory transmissions among residents, with no evidence of spread beyond the premises.
Of the list of monitored clusters, the highest number of 35 new cases – all quarantined – was added to the cluster at Tampines Dormitory. The cluster now has 216 cases.
Fifteen new cases were added to a cluster at nursing home United Medicare Care's Toa Payoh branch, bringing the total to 50. Of them, 39 are residents, 10 are staff members, and one is a household contact.
Eleven new cases – all quarantined – were also added to the cluster at the Woodlands dorm, now totalling 406 infections.
Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said in Parliament on Monday while the government is ramping up healthcare capacity to handle up to 5,000 cases, it is already planning how to handle 10,000 infections.
Co-chair of the multi-ministry COVID-19 taskforce Lawrence Wong last Saturday said many people in Singapore will end up catching COVID-19, and there is no need to be fearful or embarrassed about it.
But the Finance Minister also said the current rise in COVID cases may not be "the last wave" in Singapore.

So sad a 102-year old granny died. Otherwise she could have lived longer and perhaps break a Guinness world record. The insecure pappies need these frivolous awards and accolades to make themselves feel good... refer to UNESCO hawker culture. :roflmao:

stem cells. derrick rossi was a post doc doing research at stanford on embryonic stem cells when controversy of using stem cells from human embryos became too heated and caused his research to be affected from legal threats and funding issues. when he came across weissman and kariko’s paper idling in the archives doing nothing, he knew his research problems were over if tweaked mrna could help produce stem cells at will. no need for embryos anymore. that was more than 6.9 years ago. he moved to harvard with his idea, and dr. springer took him to meet dr. langer from mit nearby, and they founded mrna with dr. ken chien and noubar afeyan. kariko joined biontech when later-rounds funding for that startup became available. dr. drew weissman is still at upenn running his research lab. imo, the stem cell angle should be pursued intensively, as stem cells can help the medical field tremendously.

Well.....with this whole mRNA vaccine debacle....don't be surprised down the road someone decides to demonize it etc......

Then Dr Rossi will be issued legal threats and funding issues as well. LOL!

It is the lawyers who run the medical research really. They decide what is allowed and what is not.

@eatshitndie bro I think sometimes the question is whether it has become high profile or not.

The lawyers are always sniffing for opportunities to sue and make money in the USA.

Stem cells! That became high profile for a while! Like the woke movement there become the court of public opinion and stem cells were made to look bad. Guess what the lawyers did.

mRNA technology.....this was quite low profile until this covid 19 pandemic.

So the danger is now that it is high profile....what is the court of public opinion going to be at the end of this all? We still dont know yet.

For researchers actually best for them to lay low under radar until they have confirmed the breakthrough tested trialed all done. High profile is bad for research unless you wanna fast track it for $$$$$$. Then the lawyers also come sniffing for that $$$$$$ now you have made it. LOL!

i doubt if more billions are poured into the platform for all kinds of treatments and therapies in big pharma. every pharma will jump onto the bandwagon and there’s no turning back, legal threats, lawsuits or otherwise. too much money involved. mrna is part of the human body whether conspiracist theorists like it or not. it was discovered in 1961. way forward is how mrna can be innovatively tweaked. mrna including tweaked ones don’t change dna plus they decay and are disposed of by the body within 69 hours, thus the well heeled scientific, medical, investment and legal communities know they will only battle “noise” and nonsense from the lunatic fringe and all kinds of conspiracy theorists. have no fear. traditional methods of creating drugs and “cures” will be disrupted for good just like how current internet-based behemoths disrupted entire grandpa and grandma industries.

money in the markets will overwhelm money in lawsuits. apple, amazon, google, facebook are bombarded by frivolous lawsuits everyday. they hire an army of lawyers themselves to fight lawsuits. ironically, most of them are patent and ipr related.
