The repairs etc should have been done by full time service men n not reservist. Their careers are not technical in nature hence the complacency
this i agree. extensive and intensive depot work on new gen "sophisticated" heavy combat vehicles should be performed by professionals, not a bunch of ict reservists.

Scenario C.

Maybe the barrel fault was not being able to be lowered. So Pang jump on it try to push push then the barrel lowered on it's own but he was not able to get out in time.
Of course. Mechanic won't be there if gun not spoilt, correct or not?

Then in war how? Reservist supposed to know how to repair dunno how to repair?

Who was the senior mechanic here? Aloysius or that other guy?

from 9.6 seconds it can easily go down to 6.9 seconds before cleaner realizes it. and in less than 6.9 seconds if got caught on loader very difficult to jump as space is so tight. it's not a design issue, it's human error. someone played pang? oops i mean punk?

Who's playing pang? 9.6 secs to lower when barrel fully erected and less than 6.9 secs when not fully erected.

If mechanical crank can be used during peace-time maintanence, why so lazy use automatic hydrolics?

Why the rush to expend all the rounds? Premature ejaculation ah? That's why I say- tantric sex is the best!

Accidents do happen. Army training is always going to be high risk for accidents.

Useless truism that does nothing to change the fact of 8 deaths in 16 months of national service.

If regulars die is one thing, they signed up for it. But for conscripts to die by negligence, you find it acceptable to be swept under the carpet? Oh, accidents happen all the time... Ya like we will all accidently vote for opposition this time. Accidentally kick out the PAP. Accidentally vote for Cheng Bock and hsien Yang.

Oops, accident niah.

For the SAF,,,the vehicle commander is not really a commander in the true sense of the word, Its more like an 'overseer' just to keep a look out for the driver, ensure the driver dont sleep, tell driver slow down, reach the camp, sign in, give 11B etc etc,,,not like to command the driver like in military maneuvers or in the movies
I still say that it is very inappropriate and entirely wrong to do so. In case of an emergency (eg: the driver should get himself into complications, like a sudden heart attack), will the vehicle commander knows how to help in maneuvering the vehicle to safety and stops it when he doesn't even know how to drive a vehicle in the first place? This requirement in qualification could also mean the saving or sacrificing of the 20 or so lives within the 3-ton truck itself that are being transported at the rear and this casualty may be even higher if it's travelling in a convoy and crashes against the other 3-ton truck ahead of it. It's like asking a doctor to repair a TV when his profession is not even into electrical and electronics. He'll most likely to get himself electrocuted instead.

Possible but highly unlikely... thousands of cars in Singkieland n how many accident due to heart attack? Highly unlikely n even if the vehicle commander is a trained driver wat can he do? The best is help driver pull vehicle aside..tat no need to be a trained driver. Just common sense..he can't take over like in the movies...

Any death is unacceptable.

However you do have a conscript army. Maybe you should vote for a party that wants to scrap conscript army? So far I have not heard any opposition say anything about changing the Singapore NS system.

In pang case we have to see what the story is eventually.

There is still a possibility. This was what had happened to my friend's son: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/man-dies-after-car-slams-into-f1-barrier It's very likely that the driver of the HONDA CIVIC had suffered a heart attack just before his crash, otherwise, he would have naturally applied the emergency brake to lessen the impact and may still be alive today.

If tat the case, might as well banned all cars on the road which do not have a trained vehicle commander

very likely human error involved. it's either a prank on pang or a punk on pang's part. other buddies present sure kena scapegoated. they are supposed to watch out for each other. bastards.
All hydraulic systems will have mechanical locks at both their upper and lower limits. This is to enable its safe repair and servicing when in need. especially upon disconnecting the hydraulic hoses to its cylinders, which will then cause rapid movements due to the sudden drop in hydraulic pressure within its system.

In this case, I strongly suspect it is the person (most likely the commander) who is negligent to ensure that his team is fully accounted for (to be outside of its danger zone) prior to the lowering of the gun barrel. Even if it's to make adjustments or fault finding for a jammed gun barrel, sufficient safety protocols must also be followed to prevent such a tragedy.

What you're saying here is irrational. I'm implying that since it is mandatory for all SAF vehicles to have a vehicle commander, they should then be pre-qualified with the necessary skills before taking their vocation. You are instead saying that all vehicles (including private ones) must be accompanied with vehicle commanders. Be focus.

If saf implement such a policy, half the vehicles will not move. N u mention a Honda civic accident, how does tat concern the SAF? U mention a private vehicle...

I wonder if you read your own post: You had mentioned this yourself: "thousands of cars in Singkieland n how many accident due to heart attack?" I'm only commenting to your post relating to what you had said. Don't make a fool of yourself here.

From what I have read in the news, such team comprises 4 persons in total, 3 technicians and 1 commander. The fourth person, who is also the highest in command, is the one who will have the authority to activate the switch and guess who?
