2. Details about family members are then extracted
3. These details are then used by the syndicates to convince the elderly that a family member is indeed trouble with the Police etc. It also explains why these syndicates have been very "lucky" with identifying the victims with large sums. Many have wrongly assumed that it is matter of cold calls. There are numerous syndicates so the styles will differ but some syndicates have gone one better.

I don't think so....I am sure many of us are much more astute with our money....we still have a lot of CASH RICH CPF ACCOUNT HOLDERS, who are cash in the pockets POOR....NO PERSON IN THEIR SANE MIND WOULD WANT ANOTHER PERSON(S) OR ENTITY TO HOLD ON TO THEIR HARD EARNED , BLOOD , SWAT & TEARS MONEY....except the the insane 70%.

I work 30 plus years, I accumulate this much in compulsory savings..when I retire, it is my wish to spend my money, the way I want to....or to blow it all in one day....that is my money....not kept with a government who tell me, it is yOUR MONEY & as when I give it to you...

I was wondering how can those calls make from outside of SG, can target and reach those old folks that can easily withdraw hundred of thousands, to remit oversea. It has to be an inside SG job with scouts searching out these old folks to prey on. And with these scouts befriended the old folks whom trust been created and egging them to do the remittances without telling their family members, it makes sense how the scams actually been so successful.

Given the employment rates and lowly paid sinkies, it seems like a very high hit rate for these oversea scammers of without in-country scouts.

for the minority who lose all their CPF funds to whores at 55, they will be housed in institutions similar in comfort and conditions to prison, but with freedom of movement.

we do this because we want to be a society that allows an individual maximum freedom within the limits of reason and provides a minimum safety net to catch us when we fall from our own stupidity.
