Postings may be public but what about your password, the stuff you exchange via PM which might contain personal details of your life which you would not want made public? There is nothing wrong with adding more privacy. It will definitely add value in the long run.

i still think you are wasting time unless maybe you have few servers tx and Rx data. i do not know your network map but i am sure for an ordinary forum, it does not need to have ssl. even private messages among forummers here are tx within the server. how to intercept?

u have to transmit ur message to the server first before the server transfer it to the end user?

it's not dumb with end to end encryption, even a weak cipher. although not 100% hackproof, it poses a burden and challenge for majority of hackers, and only the very determined and skilled with morbid curiosity of what sbf members exchange in their pm's would not give up trying. this provides peace of mind for some members like a condom or placebo.

this is mainly a forum for siao thing tongs, what so serious about it? i even set a very easy to guess password, i have no qualms abt pple using my account to post on my behalf. i can give it to you if you want.

I notice that the CA of your forum is Comodo, which had problems with bogus SSL certificates in the past. Read the articile "Comodo hacker claims another certificate authority" url: http://www.pcworld.com/article/223760/article.html

If the SSL service is free, why is the expiry date of the certificate 12/11/2016, which is only a few months from now?
