Once considered the safe bet and the moral compass of a wayward party, the Deputy Prime Minister's stock is rapidly eroding over the issue of CPF and the roles of GIC and Temasek in investing CPF funds. What was noticeable is that answers that are now forthcoming were not provided or avoided when this episode first began to take the National stage. When the Minister of Finance finds its difficult to answer questions raised by the rightful owners of the funds what hope is there about he being frank and transparent about state finance.
He obviously cannot be dense not realise that it is the rightful owners that have been seeking answers in the first place.
The PAP needs to sit down and take stock of this entire episode and find out who was wrong and if the PM's running Temasek has become too much a political potato to constantly cover and evade issue of general concern.
