We all have that unsatisfied feeling that the arguments have not yet been made convincingly for why we need a population of 5, 6 or whatever million, and yet they are moving ahead on how to achieve it. I find that extremely disconcerting and I am sure all of us do as well. The National Conversation should have started with this question.

Many developed and advanced countries are also experiencing slow pop growth and dwindling replacement ratios. I wonder if they panic as much. What are they doing about it? What is our critical mass? Has there been any consensus?

What is wrong with smaller pops? After all, every nation on earth is trending that direction. isnt it better for global warming and climate change if the world pop drops? We would have less strains on the earth's resources. Once upon a time, we were afraid of population explosion. Is it becos we have a burgeoning ageing baby boomer generation that we dont have reserves to sustain? What happens when this gen come to past? Is not the problem then transient?

Hope someone who is dissatisfied with PAP start to unveil more scandals whether Teo Ser Luck has been sleeping around, whether Teo Ho Pin has money corruptions deals, whether KBW has more than one properties. All these few are enough to topple the govt and announce another by-election soon.

Next it has to review the number of non-residents holding E-, S, W passes here and to see if more employers cannot trim further -the same way these bosses restructure their companies and got rid of Singaporeans. Esp the Indian companies.

There are countries where the bulk of the resident population comprises non-residents. In some cases, the non-citizens far-outnumber the citizens. One notorious example was / is Kuwait. In 1990, the ratio of non-citizens to citizens was something like 4:1. I stand corrected on the exact figure because at the time of writing this, Google search doesn't seem to be responding to any search on Kuwait.

Such a population mix, which was largely unchallenged by the Kuwaitis, meant that the will to defend itself was very weak. This was undoubtedly one of the reasons Saddam Hussein was able to overrun it in a matter of hours.

Is this what we want for Singapore?

What makes you think they care about any of this? It is well known that there are many foreigners in our midst under false pretenses. Employer and employee may submit details to MOM that the employee is getting the stipulated wage for one of the passes, but in actual fact the wage is far lower. MOM has the resources to initiate a massive crackdown on such errant practices but it appears that it has little resolve. It should be obvious why that is the case. This is the reason why you see many dubious and unsavoury looking characters all over the island.

My point of contention have always been that Singapore is not a country but a fucking country club. An aberration created by Lee Kuan Yew. A home for rich criminals to launder their money. With a cheap salaried force of army conscripts to protect their interest. What a bargain. Only a motherfucking bastard like Lee Kuan Yew can come up with something like that!
