Pls understand why married couples are not having children and find solutions to overcome their concerns. It useless to throw money (which is not much) and mass importation of PRCs.

I am a parent too, currently had one kid and not really keen on the second one. I concern with the rising cost of bring up a child, it not cheap you know, and had to make sure the kid is well taken care of and still had enough money left over when i grow old. To me, my child is not a investment, while i will try to provide the best i can afford and still have balance left so that both my wife and me will not burden to him in our later years.

Others
· Stricter regulations on religious organizations. Come down hard on rich and manipulative evangelist religions.
· Enforce secularism. Ban religious soliciting. Young minds are too vulnerable to decide what religion is right for them, or to reject religion.

you points are very commendable, quite alot of points you raised are good ideas, but some are not workable, like restriction of pet ownerships. pet fix an angry heart, pets show you the meaning of love. restricting pets means restricting love. banning bikes is also an indication of you don't understand the needs of the foreign workers. do you know how much is a dollar to them that they can saved and remit back home by travelling by bicycles instead of our public transportation? are foreign workers not human? don't they have to eat too? don't they have rights too?

i originally wanted to submit your ideas to PMO office, but after reading the above statement, i believed you have totally misunderstood the Christian faith.

are you saying it's better for young to go to pub and get drunk and high, or pregnant instead of going to a church, to develop your spiritual well being? secularlism is not good for a society, as they have to rely on idol worshipping to be satisified. like money or oneself. where is the love for mankind? where is the noble ideals of serving people instead of serving yourselves?

people are free to choose in what they believe in. nobody forces a gun at your head to let you make that decision. people convert because they feel there's some truth in the Bible. even if you want to be baptised, you will be asked to take a course and interviewed before you are allowed to. because you have to be sure of what you are doing. you can decide to leave the faith later if you feel that you are not fulfilled by the word of God. or you could stick with God and continue to put your faith to the test.

enforcing secularism and banning religious soliciting is as evil as censorship itself. we are progressing towards a society that allow human choice and freedom instead of receiving orders down from the top. if we are doing more of the latter, we are regressing back to where we are came from.

singaporeans are losing their souls and their spirituality, and are becoming more indifferent and self serving nowadays, especially when their primary focus is only money or just to satisfy their lustful desires. look at the Xmas present donation? only 40% of the projected figures. where's the Xmas spirit in the country? turn back before it's too late for the country.

There are many good points in Angry One's post. I myself wont abolish NS but will like it to be shorten to a year. If the Bundeswehr can do it why SAF cannot.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conscription_in_Germany

I find my time was wasted during NSF as many a time there are nothing to do. Many days were allocated for vehicles maintenance which become "body" maintenance as vehicle take only a couple days to service. Nabei, the lull period also damn long end up everyday also nite off. My unit finished the Atec a full ten months before our ORD date. Then Occiffers and noncoms also ORD 2 months after Atec, leaving only men aka corporals to run the show. In the end many of us were posted out to other units for 6 months.

As for Reservists, should not be more than 6 years. and finish b4 30yo. Fellow Reservists who are 30+ should know what i talking about as there more and more ppl had beer belly as more ICT progress. No way can these bunch be fit and most dun give a damn about the training in the first place and are just going thru the motion. Bloody waste of time.

Ppl who like the idea of soldiering but had already finish with their 6 years cycle shd be form into militias, something like the National Guards unit. Monetary benefits should be given to encourage ppl to join.

And lastly, Malays should be inducted into the national defense too. Yah Yah they also served National Service but most are in the Home Team. Even those who "struck lottery" and serve inside SAF can find their file went "missing" after ORD. My malay colleague who a reservist in the KINS(Home Team) claimed his older brother who served as a rifleman in SIR had never kenna ICT for the pass 8 years since ORD. Some of my ex secondary malay classmates encounter the same situation. And also please place more trust in the Malays and open all the combat units to them. i believe commando and Artillery already open to Malay intake but why Armoured still a exclusive chinese intake. Yes there are indian but most are in the HQ and are Pes C. In my NSF days, there only one indian in the combat teams. Only one when there are 3 combat teams in the battlion.

Obviously, this has to be the opposition's strategy and I hope it'll prevail over scare tactics one day.

I know the PAP will never take up most of these ideas. But a lot can be good rallying calls for all the other parties. They're win-win and people-first solutions.....anyone who takes it up and publicizes it, can get loads of support.

I also have a duplicate post in SDP's forum. As for the rest, everyone is free to forward this to wherever they choose. And any party can publicise or implement these solutions. I'm here to serve.

VIBGYOR, I'm not sure how the current regime will take to these ideas- they're nearly the polar opposite of current policies. As for the 2 issues you contend:

1. clampdown on evangelist religious groups: No one is saying Christianity is bad, but all religions have their black sheep - like how the peaceful Islamic religion has terrorists. Evangelist groups are doing more damage to young minds than we can imagine, and emptying their gullible wallets to make million-dollar ego projects. They must be reigned in. Many mainstream churches do not like Evangelist churches either.

2. Foreign workers on bikes: Take a walk down the Kallang area and you'll see how frustrating this problem is. The safety of pedestrians is far more important than the 'convenience' of errant bike riders. If your aged parent gets hit by one riding at full speed, you'll appreciate this idea. I am all for protecting foreign workers' rights (see Human Rights), but sg is not designed for a cycling culture.

Bro, you got more meat than all parties and their manifesto put together all these years. I might not agree with some and do agree with many, but these are substantive items for discussion and food for thought. A fresh change from usual motherhood statements and absolute rubbish like Hip Hop. Kudos to you.

from the above, you are now mixing Islam with Christianity. please don't link them together when you are quoting examples. you are confusing people.

as for the mega churches, i have no problem with them if they want to build mega buildings for worshippers to use, to worship God. it's a testimony of their success in expanding God's kingdom. as long as they abide by the teaching in bible and spread God's word, they should not be prejudiced. it's just a building. how can you accomodate 10,000 in a church with 1,000 capacity? if they use it for selfish purposes, then i welcome the authorities to do something about it. if we don't have evidence for now, maybe we should give them the benefit of the doubt?

how about widening the walkways to accomodate for bikes and pesdestrains? like in the parks and many europeans countries do provide bike lanes even on the streets? helps to work off that excessive char kuay teow lards?

These ideas are excellent. The very reasons I want to leave the country are:

1)Overcrowding at public places (actually its everywhere)
2)The demise of the English language (most Singaporeans emigrants are really English language speakers)
3)National Service liability (its so passe)
4)Promoting indigenous Singaporean culture (where every race can feel comfortable with)
5)Cost of living (can't keep up with the Joneses so i will leave and enjoy the greater benefits with much lower cost of living)

Those are actually the common grouses of the ordinary Singaporeans. Angry One - you should send your solutions to the SDP. They are the only party I feel represent Singaporeans interest(despite the contrary). No wonder PAP wants to destroy them so much.

Your points are fantastic Angry one. If Singapore implements these, I might even consider coming back to Singapore again. But the trouble is, these are no more than just illusions. I'll increase your points for this post. Well done.

and I thought Uncleyap is turning senile......

you are even worse than him.

have you done a background study into how long does all these process takes? and are singaporeans psychologocially able to handle what you are suggesting?

Do you have any better solutions? Otherwise, it is very easy to just sit down and criticize. :(

Angry one had obviously made a great effort in presenting his offer of an alternative. Besides criticizing, what have you got to offer?

iF YOU WANT TO SEE IT AS A GREAT EFFORT, GOOD FOR YOU.

but I m not going to waste time to write a full 15 page reply on every point he made as if you had bother to read carefully between the lines, the amount of preparation needed to actually achive just 5 out of so many points.

angry is one thing, logic and rationality is another.

looks like he is not logical at all

Speaking of your 3rd point National Slavery.... errr.. or is it ...service...or is ...whatever. Sinkeeland has got a population of about 4.5m. New Zealand is much bigger than Sinkeeland but the population is about the same as Sinkeeland. Why is it that NZ does not have compulsory National Slavery but Sinkeeland has? So is NS at all necessary???? Food for thoughts. :p
