The world doesn't owe you anything either. If you were ever stabbed by a bangla, I'll be the first to remind you of your weakness.

in that case society does owe me justice.

but these generation of old people, many of them did not bother to get an education, read, keep themselves updated, are lazy, are bad people, soft, weak etc...you can't expect society to provide for them if they are weak and give up so easily.

apparently you have never been stabbed before as well, it is not easy to die from stabbings, i have seen people being stabbed... unless the knife punctures the liver kidney or heart....the mafia here have guns, they drive by and shoot up your house, no need for knives! but i also have two rifles at home.

no i disagree with what u say. perhaps, u live in a different generation and environment

saying that the generation of old people, do not bothered to get an edu. i believe that most, if not all of them, went thru WW2, and the occupation of sg by the Japs. at that time, are edu considered a need? i think during that time, food, shelter and survival are the needs that all people seek. and remember, the economy of sg is badly damaged by the Japs (remember, hyper inflation where the banana money comes in play)

these old weaklings like to think the world owes them something...if you dont work hard and are lazy or stupid that is your prob not the govt or young ppl's problem.

always sitting around living on the young people's money asking for more while doing nothing of value...hawker, collect rubbish...this few old generations are really useless.

I hope that you don't ever grow old one day, such that you'll die at a fucking young age with your parents presiding over your funeral. WTF.:oIo:

What to do

The problem wasn't created overnight. The people had many opportunities to vote for a more balanced parliament, instead of putting all their faith in one party.
Even today the 60% are repeating the same mistake & many will face the same future as this couple:(

This isn't the government's problem. It's a social problem that ordinary Singaporeans have created and should solve for themselves.

The government has more important issues to deal with.

I was at a polyclinic recently. Walk-in waiting period - 3 hours. At least 150 patients seeing only 5 docs.

I also saw an old couple who were brought in by their son. He KPKB to staff, probably due to waiting time which affected his work. His father sitting in a wheel chair had to wait at least 1 hour, even after having appt. Why the low level of resources catering to such high population density? Or have all the doctors migrated?

like how to further swell their coffers

The government has to come up with ways and means to keep Singapore going for the medium to long term. If the economy falters, everything will unravel in no time. The Singapore dollar will plummet in value. So too will housing prices. The downward spiral will be unstoppable and everyone will be poorer as a result.

If society feels that the poor need to be helped, they could take some time off queuing for their iPhones and do some social and charity work instead.

Agreed in part. The "gahment" of the day cannot be micro managing everyone's lives and we are all responsible for our destiny. What I fail to understand is why can't we all enjoy our twilight years like the elderly in countries such as Norway, Sweden... When I was there for business recently, I had a talk with my associates and was really impressed with the "cradle to grave" policies they have in place there ... put in place by a "gahment" that had no million-dollar minitoots but very caring individuals more concerned with welfare policies that benefit all. You won't see their elderly selling tissue paper, working in Macs, cleaning tables in hawker centres, much less having no $ to see doctors. This is not about pandering to the needs of the poor, but a well-thought plan to prepare the elderly for a less strenous life in their golden years. The "gahment" of a cuntry amy have many issues to think about but taking care of the needs of its citizens should always, always be a priority.

education has always been important since bc 1000 in china and ad 1000 in europe. the vicars, mandarins, scholars, barons, yeomen, middle class valued education. the chinese value knowledge of combats and literature and science etc and scholars were made government officials.

yes, so the old generations are inferior because not only do they not have education, they have zero manners and courtesy, because they are slum dogs...like the indians in the cesspools of mumbai etc...they can never learn manners, skills and graciousness...

i hope you are old and not young, if not you are a self-hating moron.

the old generation in singapore are weak, utterly useless, and categorically think the entire world owes them a living even after they gambled away their cpf monies or don't work hard or are idiots who are only capable of earning 500 bucks per month.

they whine whine whine keep wanting more, keep complaining all the time, have zero respect for the young who are paying tax money to support their shrivelled asses and old bones...they are utterly miserable and insufferable people.

over here, the oldies are nice and pleasant people to deal with, who have respect for young people who are taking care of them.

if i was running singapore, i would create gas chambers and gas these generations of useless trash.
