PR means you can stay in that particular country, long term, have almost the same level of rights as a local-born citizen, in education, health care access and others, and yet can come back to your original country if there's issues to settle.

So to answer your question: unless you're asking about withdrawing your CPF in its entirety, the Singapore government,by right- once you have, say the American green card, or Aussie PR, or the Canadian one, the right to stay in either three- they can't complain. Obviously there may be bureaucratic obstacles along the way for some, but since I hadn't gone through it, I can't tell you.

Otherwise, I would be just misleading you- and I don't want that.

you can of course migrate and leave, but you cannot withdraw your CPF. the ICA will require a copy of foreign citizenship if you wish to take your CPF out.

it will take you years to obtain a foreign citizenship following PR from a foreign country - but every nation has different rules for physical presence time tests.

on the old forum there was an interesting article on several foreign citizenships you could purchase for a fee from carribean nations or you could spend approx 2 years obtaining a dominican republic citizenship if you are desperate enough for your CPF.

You could get a PR but to do yourself some justice, its better for you to withdraw your CPF and for that, you'll be better off going for a citizenship soon (unless you are very rich and could choose to forego it and wish to hold on to your Sinkee citizenship). I'm an Ozzie PR now but soon I'm going to take up citzenship here and once I've done that I'm just going to drive to Canberra and tear the Sinkee passprt right in front of the clerk's eye. My huge amunt of CPF sitting there with a pathetic 2.5% returns is doing injustice to myself. It would really be good for me if I could get it and invest it here in Oz.

If you're awarded PR but don't leave SG to reside in the country that gave you residency, you will probably lose your PR status and all hopes of citizenship.

There are a few countries where citizenship can be bought outright without doing any time though. Do a Google search for more info.

Is it true that even if u got citizenship from Malaysia, u still cannot withdraw your cpf.
You may withdraw your CPF in full, from all the accounts, if you have left Singapore and West Malaysia permanently with no intention of returning to either country for employment or residence. In addition you should have renounced your Singapore Citizenship I got this info from guidemesingapore.com
any idea ?

I think is not easy as u still be consider as 2nd class citizen.

That line sound like from PAP propaganda machine ... kekeke

I think my status is higher in my adopted country than in Singapore.

In Singapore, I am 3rd class, have to serve NS, give my $ to govt in CPF (don't know whether can see the $ at retirement or not), compete with FTs for univ and job market.

Don't you give $$ to your Super? Can you see your Super before 63yo? You as a foreigner now working in Australia, didn't you "take" a job from the market that a local Aussie possibly could do? So your status is higher because you displaced a local. Yet you got a problem when some FT displaces a local in Singapore.

I am in a State where people prefer to be tradies than working in a higher capacity, such as in my position. SO, I am not displacing anyone. I give them more work and income.

I have my SMSF. If I am in financial difficulties, I can request for a Super withdrawal. I can also have access to pension, but I leave that for the needy retirees and disabled.

I am not a foreigner in Australia, but a citizen here with authority to witness your PR visa application or your application to an Australian Passport. I am also jury in the Australian Justice System. In my spare time, I help my staff to authenticate their identities and with their home loan applications .

I am also looking up to my Italian Aussie friend for inspiration. Her name is Lieta Aquarola and she runs the Sorrrento Restaurant here in Northbridge. (She still has a nice swimming pool at home, after I converted mine to a granny hut ) She was awarded the "Order of Australia" medal this year.

Perhaps that is why I have spent less time here in this forum. Do not want to associate too many petty miserable people. There are many petty people in Australia too, the ones who are never happy because they believe that other people owe them a living, and they want to spend more of other people's money because they are too lazy to earn some themselves. Many are Margaret Thatcher's refugees from the Lost Empire.

Yes, my status here is higher not only because of my legitimate power, but also the respect I gain from the locals.

Good luck to you.

The Sorry state of petty people in Sinkee and Ozzie lands

As a great Monty Python fan, one of my favourite scenes is from their movie Life of Brian. As a group of Judean conspirators against the Roman occupation gather, the rhetorical question is asked what those awful Romans had ever done for them.

As it turns out, very little – apart from providing Judea with sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, public health and peace. In their hatred for everything Roman, the activists of the ‘People’s Front of Judea’ cannot appreciate anything positive provided by their despised occupiers.

Starting in 1979, he helped to establish the Kulilla Aboriginal and Alcohol Service and Wandering Dry Out Centre.

Neddy, do not think for one second, I am awed with the drivel you have written. For someone who claims he has earned the respect of the Aussie locals, I do not see any of that quality in the manner you wrote in your previous post. All you projected was the familiar despicable Singaporean attitude. Can’t shake it off, eh? Legitimate power??....my ass!

I strongly suggest you take your own suggestion to spend less time here on this forum and retire gracefully.

Ed Chigliak, you should relax.

I suggest you say the same to those flawless characters who run your life, keep you alive and trust with your retirement investment.

Let God be the judge and turn to this verse in the bible, John 8:7.

This is Singapore. In OZ, the only time the locals complain about taking local jobs is when the Left Wing supporters need more welfare.

Hi Neddy, I'm finalising my plans for Australia after reviewing all the different options(work, migrant, study) and I would like your opinion. I am choosing the study option using the TAFE/VET route. The two courses that I am looking at are

1. Advanced Diploma in Hospitality majoring in Patissiery(includes a cert IV and diploma). The course is 2 years.
This is my area of interest as I have plans to set up a small bakery/pastry shop in future. I view this as a skill also. The only setback is that after graduation, this diploma does not qualifies me for the Temporary Graduate Visa (485). (485)Graduate Work Stream not qualify as Pastry Cook is not on the SOL 1 list. (485)Post-Study Work Stream not qualify as only bachelor degree onwards are considered.
If I am lucky to find work immediately upon graduation, then I can apply for another work visa class. However, if I can't, this 485 visa will be very useful for me to stay for another 18 Months in Australia. The only way to solve this is to continue my study in University for another 1.5 years which I am reluctant. It is funny that pastry cook is in national shortage but the trade never made it to the SOL 1 list.

2. Advanced Diploma in Accounting. This is not my interest but if you ask me to grind my teeth and finish it, I can. The only reason why I consider this diploma is that, it gives me a good chance to get the 485 visa under the Graduate Work Stream.

My choice of city is Melbourne as I prefer the cooler climate.

Hi brother, will be glad to meet up with you if I'm there. Are you able to advise me if a 2 year diploma in accounting from TAFE will give me good chances to land a book keeping job. I have no wish to go all the way to degree and then CPA. I just want to find a way to stay behind after graduation from the diploma course. It's really a dilemma for me now. I can't find a lot of information from the Internet.
