Besides the monthly rations, the 137 needy residents of Jln Bk Merah also received $75 worth of vouchers to buy food and produce at ABC Market & Food Centre.

this little amount is it really enough? how does it work out to be - only $2.50 per day. to buy hawker food at ABC market, is the mp aware that how much does a bowl of noodle cost? at least $2.50 which means the poor receiver needy could only to afford to eat one meal a deal and limit that to $2.50!!

can mp baey or any of the fabulous minitoot able survive on that?

by the way, the food voucher is given to per person or per family? if it's per family, then they are treating the needies worst than beggars!!

pap's generosity is really a hypocritism. if u wanna feed the poor, the old, the needies and the desperate, please feed them at least 75% full and not miserably still hungry.

if the minitoots or mps are really compassionate for the unfortunate singaporeans, maybe it's time they commit to a lower pay or allowance and channel those to help this group. no point taling and talking and the unfortunates are still left hungry. they feed on bread and water and not bombastic words from the minitoots/mps' saccharined lips.

the pathetic generosity of the welfare dished out by the gov is a wayang and a showoff only. when compare with prata's obscene $3M and a help-yourself-increment of another 800k+ pales at the logic of sharing and EVERYONE IS NOT LEFT BEHIND as preached by pinkie.

for welfarism, a mere $75 is suppose to last a person (or maybe even a family) for 1 mth. is there any minitoots or mps who dare to try surviving on this miserable amount just for one month which they proudly called social welfare?

no one chooses to be poor, sick or debilitated. but as a lst world society with lst class million$ gov, such display of so-called social welfare is really an embarrassment.

on contrary, when they pocket their million$ without doing much helpful deed to the less fortunate, doesn't that prick on their conscience. or has their conscience been eaten alive by greed and compulsive avarice?

The voucher is a form of supplement and not meant to cover their full meal.

If MIW start feeding the whole group for free, non of the needy would want to work to support themselves. In the 1st place, most of them had become needy because they lack discipline and are lazy for many years.

For those who just had a bad turn of luck, they will not be stuck in the gutter for long and this would help to see them through.

I had been a vounteer before and some of the needy family really deserves to be poor.

There was one whose highest qualification was 'O' level and he has 7 children. Of course, his income cannot support the family. He complain why help not enough.

Another one was given a letter to collect used books for his school-going children, he did not turn up on that day and claimed that the location was too far.

One was given school food vouchers so that his children can use in the school, he rejected saying that is 'malu' for his children. He asked for cash instead. Of course, we rejected his request.

One asked for help, we visited the house and there was a 40 inch LCD TV in his living room, complete with cable channels and broadband internet. No house phone but everyone in the family, including children has a handphone each.

no wonder those poor and supposedly can't find a job types are all so fat.

only know how to beg and demand for freebies.

the "help" fr gov agency are not forth coming. many of these poor, needies, handicapped etc do not know where to get all these so-called HELP. it's the gov's duties to go to them. that would really be HELP.

if gov just initiate all the HELPLINES but keeping that in the dark, it's as good as not helping at all. they would would boast - as usual again - that they do HELP...but then those who needed such HELP are unaware about the availability and how to access it. so it's like got have; like got never have.

so u ask yourself:

IS THIS TRULY A SINCERE GOV WHO'S REALLY TRYING TO HELP OR IS THIS A GOV WHO JUST PUT A "HELPLINE" THERE AND THOSE WHO KNOWS IT SHALL BE HELPED AND THOSE WHO DON'T, THEN GOD BLESS U! ??
