Fabian Yeo, the sole proprietor of Spares International, was charged with ten counts of inflating and making false entries on his company’s Goods and Services tax returns between February 2005 and March 2007. The taxes amounted to S$79,211.05. Under the Goods and Services Tax Act, Yeo will have to pay a penalty of three times the amount of tax undercharged if he is convicted. In addition, he could be fined up to S$10,000 or jailed up to seven years, or both. His case will be heard again on November 20.
