THREE teenagers were the targets of mobile phone thieves in the last two days. In the first incident, which occured on Tuesday morning at Jurong West Street 42, a 16-year-old student was on his way to school when he was stopped by two men who appeared to be between 18 and 20 years old. They accused him of staring at them and asked him to follow them to a nearby block. On the second level of the block, they threatened that if he did not hand over his mobile phone, they would beat him up. As he took out his phone to call his parents, they snatched it from him. They also punched him several times on his face, before fleeing.

In a second incident that occured the next day, two 14-year-old girls had their mobile phones stolen. They were sitting with their friend outside a ground-floor unit at Jurong West Street 81 at bout 4pm, with their mobile phones on a table. Two teenagers walked by. One walked past, while the other eyed the phones. He then stopped near the table, snatched the phones and fled. The girls gave chase but lost sight of them. One of the thieves was described as tall and skinny, wearing a red and orange hooded sweatshirt. The other was wearing a black T-shirt and dark-coloured bermudas.
