Nobody remembers the false start of Liu Xiang's race.

In my opinion, Liu Xiang had wanted to race and he would certainly have. However, fortune fell on him and the race had a false start. It was through this false start that Liu Xiang pulled out of the 110m. It gave him the opportunity to start the race and then exit the race without clearing a hurdle and it prevented him from humiliating himself if he should fall behind the rest at the start and then hobble out in pain. The world would then think he pretended to be injured during the race.

The false start gave him the natural grace to withdraw without suspicion.

But nobody remembers the false start.

The story began in May 08, not this month. He was injured then. It did not heal. He did not go for surgery. He did not run competitively, there was false start disqualification. The bidding war for sponsorship for the world's biggest show had already begun.

The injury was truly unfortunate for great athlete like him.
Ever heard of an athlete in these modern times attempting to make his injury worse by trying to clear hurdles in his condition.

Its unravelling in the private boardrooms of sponsors now. There is more to it than meets the eye.
