</td></tr> </tbody></table> <!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--> THE naked body of Ms Yulia Afriyanti was found stuffed in a cardboard box in a third-floor unit of an uncompleted building in Queensway two years ago. But the High Court heard that she was very likely to have been clothed when she was strangled. Testifying at the trial of Kamrul Hasan Abdul Quddus, 35, who is accused of murdering the 25-year-old Indonesian maid, pathologist Gilbert Lau said that the body was relatively clean. As the third-floor unit of the uncompleted Viz@Holland condominium in Queensway was dusty, it was likely she was clothed when she was killed, he said.

He also said that she had been strangled before she was placed in the cardboard carton, measuring 1m long, 0.75m wide and 0.75m deep. 'It would be very awkward for someone who strangled her while she was in the box,' said Associate Professor Lau of the Health Sciences Authority He also told Kamrul's lawyer Ang Sin Teck that he was unable to ascertain where in the unit she was killed but it was very probable she had been placed in the carton after she was dead or was dying. HSA forensic scientist Lim Chin Chin testified on Monday morning that Ms Yulia's clothes were never found. She said she also found no signs that the body had been dragged from the master bedroom to the storeroom.

Last week, the High Court was told that Ms Yulia was involved in a love triangle - with Kamrul, a Bangladeshi national, and Mr Joseph Guerzon Corpuz, 25, a Filipino. Both were construction workers. While Kamrul worked at the work site where her body was found, it is not known where Mr Corpuz was working then. Kamrul claims that she was already dead when he arrived at the unit but Deputy Public Prosecutor Peter Koy said that there was DNA evidence to show that he had sex with Ms Yulia before her death. An examination of footprints found at the crime scene also indicated that he had walked barefoot there.

Telephone records also showed that he mad made several calls to her at around 2am on Dec 16 2007, he added. Less that eight hours later, she was dead. Mr Rajan Supramaniam is assisting Mr Ang. Both lawyers have been assigned by the Supreme Court to defend Kamrul as it is a capital case. If Kamrul ss convicted of murder, Justice Kan Ting Chiu must order a death sentence. Forensic scientists are now presenting their findings as the trial enters its second week.
