Landed properties & foreigners - the discrepancies

For land scarce Singapore and xenophobic reasons, I have no idea why foreigners can buy landed properties. Moreover, the limit to the size of the property is quite huge, 15,000 sq ft and they can buy FH or LH, adding salt to the wound. Not only should there be a quota on number of approvals, there should be caps on property size and tenure too. The only sensible clause about foreigners buying landed property is that they cannot rent it out and it has to be owner-occupied.

Look at the amount of condos they are building. Almost every land that is undergoing construction works are building condos. Where's the HDBs?! Even Geylang chicken lorongs, the condos are sprouting out. Sooner or later, the chickens will be relocated to tekong!

This is the pathetic level that sinkies have descended to. They are so ignorant as to the real workings of their own country.

Let me explain. The Lee and Kwa family and along with the associated PAP elites are collectively the largest property owners in singapore. In addition to luxury condos, they also own many landed properties. By allowing wealthy foreigners to buy landed properties, they have allowed the landed property prices to be bid up. Every outrageous amount paid by a foreigner for a landed property sets the new bar for future sales. As long as landed property prices keep goign up due to foreign sales, the portfolio of properties owned by Lee and Kwa families will also go up. If you allow only locals to buy, price increases will be much slower. Its as simple as that.

The rule of thumb in singapore is if don't understand a govt. policy, than all u have to look at is to see who is the ultimate beneficiary. Than u will realise why the policy is in place. If the policy does not benefit the PAP elites, Familee, or PAP, it will not be implemented.

I am ambivalent about foreign ownership. However if a rule is to be applied, then it should be applied consistently across all housing types unless there is a good reason for not doing so. Why should people be against foreign ownership of landed housing, when public housing is more or less free and open market?

Too many rule and law. Make more people confuse. Same like FT for WP(WP have at least 3 cat), S-Pass and EP.
