“One important platform for engagement is the new media. The internet is a tremendous tool to empower individuals, link us up with one another, and mobilise people for social causes. But the new media also creates real challenges. On the internet, truth is not easily distinguished from misinformation. Anonymity is often abused. Harsh, intemperate voices often drown out moderate, considered views. Other countries struggle with this problem too. We must find ways to use the new media constructively, to connect with the digital generation and sustain fruitful conversations on issues concerning us all.”

Internet Policing Must Be Placed In the Jurisdiction Of The ISA!

I totally with our new People's President Tony Tan. I am sick and tired of retards here spreading lies about our govt and insulting our govt leaders. The only way to stop this Internet filth is to put Internet Policing under the jurisdiction of the ISA. The ISA has experience in dealing with dissenters and anarchists and they have an effective way of 'shutting up' these traitors to our nation for good! All you Opposition morons be AWARE!:oIo: Your arses are gonna get kicked hard real soon!:mad:

Phony Tan wants to censor Internet after White Horse Patrick's fiasco

“One important platform for censorship is the new media. The internet is a tremendous tool to expose regime's gabras, link us up with one another, and mobilise peasants against regime's dirty tricks. The new media also creates real challenges for nepotistic regime. On the internet, truth is usually unpleasant for lackeys and minions e.g Patrick the White Horse Tan. Anonymity is a problem for the regime. Harsh truths, intemperate voices often embarrassed minions who abuse their power, one example is White Horse Patrick Tan. Other one party rule countries struggle with this problem too. We must find ways to strangle the new media constructively, to connect with the digital generation and sustain lies or conversations to advance interests of the Imperial Family and other nobles like myself.”

Rubber Stamp President Phony Tan addressing the opening of the 12th Parliament. Notice his main aim is to hit back at netizens who expose his abuse of power for his beloved sons to evade National Serfship.

Phony Tan's dirty tricks to let not one, but two of his inept sons to evade National Serfship will remain a state secret if not for new media 8)

Hence it is understandable that he remained incensed with the embarrassments and will vow to strangle the new media before more unpleasant truths emerged.

It is ironical that in his very first Presidential speech, TT has chosen to include an insignificant element (did the recent studies showed that only 12% of voters relied solely on the internet for political news?) of the challenges facing our nation. The internet certainly did not feature in his campaign about the dangers facing Singapore. From the way he was struggling with the speech, it would appear that he had seen the draft not very early in the day; the words did not spill out from his mouth naturally.

But the hard truth is that it is precisely this 'only' 12% that frightens the PAP. Where did the other 48% come from, which voted against TT, who consumed mainstream media? This is just a diversionary scare tactic to divide the net and the non-netizens and to discredit the internet.

Making silly comments about the lies in the internet is farcial - how about the former NUS professor who faked his research papers which were peer-reviewed and published all over the world in reknowned scientific journals? Making sweeping statements like these from the PAP and communicated via their newly-minted mouthpiece does the government no favour and will only increase the number of cynics.

To summarise - I smell fear, on the part of the PAP.

An overtly defensive President speech. The irony here is that the more he tries to strangle the new media, the more he gets strangled. Let's call this the Tony New Media Dilemma.
